Ideas, proposals and bug reports for New Working Methods

Import/export of equations/maths symbols with word documents would be useful.

Although it seems that equations can be created in NWM documents using latex, at some point in the future it will probably be highly desirable to be able to easily import/export equations, including variables/symbols created using the equation editor in word, from/to word documents. Without this kind of feature handling/implementing some CRs with NWM will be difficult.

In the latest version of Word (Word 365) there is a way to convert formulas to LaTex: select the formula, then in the right-hand pulldown menu attached to the formula, select 'Linear' and make sure that LaTex is shown on the top toolbar in the Conversions section. You can copy this LaTex code into an NWM formula (insert an empty formula into the NWM document first) and it should work. However, Word may not always produce the LaTex we would like, and when you convert in Word it's not always possible to go back - use the Undo function in Word to come back to the original formula layout.

This is not a solution to the requested feature, but could still be useful for complex formulas.
